Position: Fabrication Manager and Director

James, too, has learned his trade working alongside his father – and company MD – Jim. He joined Parkol straight from school in 1991, serving a five-year apprenticeship in welding, fabrication and metallurgy. He obtained first class honours at college while learning his skills on the job building vessels, and has since gone on take responsibility for planning and project managing jobs, and quality oversight.

There’s a real sense of achievement from working for Parkol. There aren’t many jobs where you get to build something like a boat that will really stand the test of time. Transforming a pile of material into a fishing vessel is a really satisfying thing.

My dad Jim is a stickler and is so good at his job that it’s rubbed off on all of us and we all work together to make each boat the best it can be and completely individual.

There is a very special culture at Parkol. We’re like a big family. If there’s ever a problem we work together to solve it and deliver the very best we can for the customer.
