‘Fishing News’ New Boat of the Year Award
Steel-hulled motor fishing vessel, having round bilge hull, transom stern, bulbous bow, soft nose stem and with full length shelter deck and arranged for single rig trawling and seining. Below deck she is subdivided by three watertight bulkheads into: aft accommodation with steering gear, engine room, fishroom and forepeak tank. The main deck has an athwartships, steel casing at midships for galley, mess, oilskins and washroom. Aft side has a steel shelter and integral gallow arrangement, over net drum space, continued to transom. Deckhouse to port and weathertight shelter to starboard and forward for fish handling, separate compartment for self-hauling reels, ice machine locker and focsle store. Shelter deck: trawl gallows, power block crane, net drums, aluminium alloy wheelhouse, gilsen winch, anchor winch and landing crane.
Resilient is the first of a new class of vessel and incorporates a number of new ideas. A highly-automated whitefish handling system is arranged forward of the deck casing. This was designed and fabricated in Holland to deliver optimum levels of catch quality and to minimise manual effort required by the crew. Thyborøn Skibs and Motor A/S (Three J’s) of Thyborøn, supplied Resilient’s extensive package of customised deck machinery. Seine net ropes and trawl wires are spooled onto the power reels by electronically controlled guiding-on gear. The hanging blocks are positioned hydraulically by a full-width modular unit, mounted to the main fishing gantry aft, two 2 x 8t split net drums are positioned on the shelter deck, together with a 14.5-tonne unit for installation on the quarter.
