Foyboat V completed

Foyboat V (our Yard No.068) has been completed and dispatched to Teesside by road this morning. She will join the busy fleet of Tees Licensed Foyboatmen’s Association (TLFA) providing mooring services on Teesport. This 10-metre line handling vessel was Parkol’s second build for TLFA, following last year’s Foyboat III (Yard No.063).

Many of Parkol’s followers asked us on social media why these vessels were called “foyboat”. The word has often been associated with the rivers of North East England – Tyne, Wear and Tees. Foy has been said to equal “fee”. The work involved would typically be handling lines between shore and vessel, handling anchor and buoy work, acting as informal ferries taking crew and provisions to anchored vessels and to each river bank.
