‘Fishing News’ Over 15m Boat of the Year Award

Steel-hulled motor fishing vessel, having round bilge hull, transom stern, bulbous bow, soft nose stem and with full length shelter deck. Arranged for twin rig trawling. Below deck she is subdivided by three watertight bulkheads into: aft accommodation with steering gear, engine room, fishroom and forepeak tank. Main deck: athwartships, steel casing at midships for galley, mess, skipper’s cabin, oilskins and washroom. Aft side has a steel shelter and integral gallow arrangement, over net drum space, continued to transom. Weathertight shelter on the forward side of the deck house for fish handling, fish hopper, ice machine, trawl winch and door to focsle store. Shelter deck: trawl gallows, power block crane, aluminium alloy wheelhouse, gilsen post and landing crane. Raised whaleback.

Daystar replaces the owner’s previous vessel, also built by Parkol in 2017 (Build No.036).

Priorities for this build included comfort and safety for the live-aboard crew, as well as greater fuel efficiency, with a Mitsubishi main engine coupled to a Heimdal gearbox to drive the 2,780mm-diameter propeller. The deck machinery came from Bopp, Thistle Marine and EK Marine.
